Pet Peeve
One of my biggest pet peeves is when people say Italian as EYE-talian. We do not call Italy, EYE-taly do we? What makes you people think that the pronunciation suddenly changes for Italian? I don't want to hear that it is just the old TOE-MAY-TOE, TOE-MA-TOE bit either. When a person pronounces tomato one way you say it that way for all variations; tomato soup, tomato plant, etc. So for all of you folks who say EYE-talian if you want to use this excuse you are going to have to say EYE-taly from now on too. I know you won't though because even you know it sounds stupid!!!
