Today was a busy day. The city is going to pick up brush and tree limbs that feel from the ice storm so Chris and I worked on pulling branches to the front yard to be picked up. We worked about a hour and a half and got around half of them out in front. Tomorrow we will have to work on cutting up the larger pieces and hauling them out front. The city picking up the tree limbs will be a huge help with fixing the damage. Anything that is free is a good thing.I worked on painting the upper cupboard doors and the door in the kitchen today. Once they dry that can be hung back up and the kitchen will be pretty much done. Yippie. While I was working on that Chris hung blinds on one more living room window. We have one more window to do tomorrow and that will be done. Chris wants to rent a carpet cleaner this week too. We are really going full steam ahead with working on the house right now. I feel like we are accomplishing a lot.
This week was interesting. On Thursday we got a really bid ice storm with freezing rain, thunder, lightning, trees falling on my shed and fence. Yeah it was great. Now we have to make an insurance claim to get the fence and the roof of the shed fixed, along with hopefully getting the rest of the tree cut down. It is funny because we have been in this house 7 months and we are already making an insurance claim on it. My parents have owned their home for about 30 years and they only made one claim and it wasn't even for the damn house. This house we bought sucks. Just one year and 5 months and then we can sell it.
Yesterday we drove to a town about 30 minutes away. They got the storm a lot worse then our area did. Many of the people there are without power. My husband and I went to Lowes to get a big tool box and I am certain we were the only people in the place not buying a generator or heater. I feel bad for them, but I am happy I am not them. The drive over there was really pretty. The trees are all coated in ice and when the sun shines on them it makes them look like they have been dipped in silver. It is just so beautiful. Destructive, but beautiful.
Today my husband, two of our friends and myself went to a Saginaw Spirit hockey game. Hockey is the only game that I really get and enjoy. I caught a shirt during one of the intermissions. Well technically Chris caught it for me, but it is mine!

After the game Chris and I went to Quiznos for dinner (Mmm, Toasty). My husband goes there A LOT! He and the owner are buddies due to the fact that he is always eating there. Well today we walked in at what appeared to be just the right time. Joe the owner was having computer problems...Chris' specialty. So he asked Chris to fix his computer for free food. So he worked on the computer for a little bit, and we got our grub for free. Joe is awesome.
Last night my husband and I went out to buffalo Wild Wings Bar with some friends for a birthday party. One of my husbands friends just turned 30 so he had a get together. Usually the bar is far from my kind of scene, but this time it wasn't too bad. I even had one drink! All in all it was a nice night out, but it will be a while before I go to the bar again. One of the student workers in my office brought in one of those balance balls this week. She used it as a chair to work her abs while she was sitting at the computer all day. I gave it a try and it was really cool. You could feel it in your abs just sitting on it. You have to stay balanced that that works your core. I am going to get one this weekend for at home. I need to work any part of me I can.
I am so tired of winter. We got snow again this weekend so we had to clean the roof off. Lord forbid we don't clear off the snow because if we don't the roof will leak when it melts. The joys of owning an old home. Well, I am ready for it to be spring time. I am ready for flowers, warmer weather, tans, highlights, and all the color of spring. Dreary grey days are getting old. Just a couple more months...
To help my spring mood along I am going to get highlights in my hair. It will be my little artificial way of making it feel springy. That and it will help to hide the grey hairs I have been catching glimpses of in the mirror. Those grey hairs are sneaky little buggers and they are making me feel old.
I started working out this weekend too, and man does it hurt the muscles the first time after being lazy for so long. All the squats have my legs feeling like jello. It is amusing at work when I have to get a file out of the bottom file drawers. Even I have to laugh at myself, I must look as old as those grey hairs make me feel. At least this feeling won't last, unlike the stubborn hairs.
