How Brilliant are You in the Eyes of Your Child?

This morning I had a conversation with a co-worker about kids views on their parents intelligence and how their opinion varies with age.  It was determined that the following is true.

Child's Age: 1-3
Parents might as well be Gods because they the most wonderful and brilliant creatures that ever existed.  They can fix every problem and are always there to guide and assist with any need.

Child's Age: 4-10
Parents are brilliant and while they are maybe not the smartest people ever on the list of most brilliant, they hold a place somewhere just below Einstein on the list.

Child's Age: 11-13
Parents level of intelligence suddenly drops somewhere below the turnip on the list of brilliance.  It truly is a wonder parents can get out of bed to dress and feed themselves at this point.

Child's Age: 14-20
Parents intelligence varies but the general trend is that they climb that list of brilliance one agonizing rung at a time during this period of time.

Child's Age: 21+
Parents finally manage to climb back up the list of brilliance to just below the level of their own child.

Here, on the list of brilliance, parents will stay until their child has their own children.  At that point the parents' children suddenly realize how much crap their parents put up with from them all this time.  Clearly that makes parents brilliant again, for keeping their mouths shut and just waiting for the day their children will have kids of their own and they will get to experience this for themselves.

(Note: this post is meant to be funny. In no way did I ever think my parents were less smart than a turnip.  Completely "uncool" but defiantly smarter than a turnip.)

The Adventures of Mr. Potato Head

Yesterday morning Ian left his Mr. Potato Head toy in my car after I dropped him off at day care.  He didn't want to take him into day care but he sat him in the car seat and said "Bye GooGoo Head" and ran off.

On my want into work, I decided that Mr. Potato Head would go on an adventure today and that I would take pictures so Ian could see what he had been up to all day.
Here he is at the beginning of his day in the car seat.

Riding into my work in my tote bag.  He accidentally spilled my granola while he hung out in my tote too.  The little trouble maker!

Checking out my desk.

Getting ready to answer the phone if it rang.  Somehow I think the customers might have enjoyed talking to him more than me.

Mr. Potato Head helped me to activate a MiFi device.

Then he tried stealing some office supplies but I caught him in the act and made him put them all away.

He used on our office phones to call China.

Then he hid in the cabinet when I found out what he was up to.

For the rest of the morning he looked out the window wondering what Ian was up to and when he would see him next.

For my lunch hour Mr. Potato Head got to ride in the front seat.

Mr. Potato Head started messing with the radio in my car.  Oh no you don't!  Then he had to go back into the back seat and wait for the end of the day.  Before he took his seat he hid a bag of fruit snacks in his back door for Ian to find later.

When we picked up Ian from day carer I told him about Mr. Potato Head's adventures and that there was a special surprise for him inside his back door.

Ian discovering the hidden snack inside Mr. Potato Head.  Ian enjoyed his snack on the way home and giggled as I showed him the pictures and told him what his toy did all day.

What a FUN day!

Six Confessions

Yesterday Liz from SRSLYLIZ posted Six Confessions.  I thought I would give it a whirl as well and tell you some of my secrets.  So here are six confessions about me.

1.  I always paint my toenails even though most people will never see them.  Also, I'm a little obsessed with collecting different color nail polishes to paint those toenails that no one will ever see.

2.  When a blogger I enjoy reading follows me back I feel a little special inside, like a celebrity knows my name.  Yes, I am aware this makes me a huge dork.

3.  Spiders (earwigs, and centipedes) in the house freak me out and I have to have Chris come and kill them.  I can't touch bugs or the things used to kill them.  If I have to kill a spider I usually have to vacuum it up so I don't have to get too close.  However, having a mouse in the house doesn't really freak me out at all.

4.  Peeling citrus fruit is something I really just don't like to do because of way the pith feels and how it gets up under your finger nails.  However, I won't eat citrus any other way but peeled.

5.  I can't do a selfless good deed.  Even when I don't want to do something nice it always ends up making me feel good so it isn't selfless anymore.

6.  I'm not fancy enough to have big, juicy secrets to confess.  My life is pretty dull, but I love it that way.

Check out Liz's blog!  She has amazing taste in just about everything.  <3

Pocoyo

Turning off our cable has opened us up to new kids shows we never gave a chance before on PBS Kids.  PBS is where they "hide" some of the best and most educational shows for kids. Dinosaur Train and Sid the Science Kid are great, but Pocoyo has become a family favorite.

Who wouldn't love this?

Every single time we play this episode for Ian on You Tube he gets up and dances or at the very least shakes his shoulder along with the music.

Check it out, and if you like this one also check out Elly's New Shoes, which is my favorite episode.  Elly has such sass!  She is my kind of elephant.
