If you were a fruit or a vegetable, what would you be? Why?
I would be Rhubarb! It doesn't look all that delicious and it is known to be toxic (well its leaves are anyway) but it is super duper tasty, especially when cooked up into a pie. Oh... and it is a cool color!
Here is the most tasty of all rhubarb recipes, my mother-in-law's Rhubarb Dump Cake
Put the following ingredients into a greased 9 x 13 pan in even layers in the order that they are given.
Do not mix.
4 to 5 cups of cubed raw rhubarb
1 cup sugar (or Splenda)
1-small pkg. strawberry jello (may be sugar free)
1 white or yellow cake mix
1 1/4 cup water
1/2 cup butter or margarine
Bake in 350 oven for one hour.
Delicious served warm.
Enjoy!

Peanut Butter
With the recent peanut butter recalls due to salmonella it has me somewhat worried. Peanut butter is a staple in my diet! I have peanut butter pretty much every day on an English muffin, bread, croissant, or crackers for my lunch. It is a cheap meal and I LOVE peanut butter. Mason even enjoys a dollop of peanut butter in his dish every day along with me. So what on earth am I going to eat when my current jar runs out? How will Mason react when our daily ritual of peanut butter is suddenly taken away from him? Every day another brand/company is added to the recall. Ugh. I hope they sort it out quickly.

Super Mom, Away!
My mom sent me an forwarded email with pictures of a mother squirrel protecting her baby from a dog. It got me thinking about how, as a mother, you suddenly find yourself capable of some pretty extraordinary things. For example, since the birth of my son I am able to catch things with ease and agility, almost as if I possessed some ninja like skills. A pretty amazing feat considering I have the hand-eye coordination of a sleeping blind person. A falling pacifier. No problem I snatch it out of the air before the baby even knows it's gone. I was able to carry my purse, a tote bag, a stuffed full diaper bag, my son in his car seat carrier, and a tray of brownies all the way from the parking lot at work into my office...in the snow! As a typical sound sleeper (and I mean sound as in I didn't hear a tree fall on the garage right outside my bedroom window) I can awaken to the sound of my son tossing and turning in his sleep. Motherhood is an amazing thing...and "they" are right, it changes everything!
Dog thinks: "Oh Boy, Oh Boy...something to PLAY with!!!!"
Mama squirrel thinks: "I will kill that beast in one fail swoop if he hurts me precious! ATTACK!!!!"
Baby squirrel thinks: OH SHIT!!!! MAMA-MOMMY!!!
Mama squirrel lays it on that dog like a tiny ninja, giving her precious time to escape.
Baby squirrel doesn't even look back, he bolts for the safety of the tree while his mama rips the dog a new asshole for even looking at her precious.
After the chaos is over the dog looks like he doesn't know what happened. He just wanted to play and for his trouble he got beat down by a tiny ninja mama squirrel 1/85th of his weight. Meanwhile Mama squirrel is helping her baby up higher into the safety of the tree giving him a lecture on the dangers of the world. After her heart slows back down she will realized she just conquered a dog 85 times her own weight with nothing more than her tiny fists and teeth to protect her and her baby. Another day in the life of a mom.
