Word of the Year

It seems a lot of people pick a word of the year to represent what they want out of the year ahead and to help focus their efforts to a certain channel.  After reading quite a few blogs where people are declaring their words, I have decided to come up with a word of my own.  (Just call me the bandwagon jumper-oner.)

My word of the year for 2011 is SIMPLIFY.

I picked this word because I want to simplify my life and do away with things I don't need, both material and otherwise.  Simplify also sums up a lot of my goals for this year: like cleaning up the junk room otherwise known as the laundry room, and clearing the house of unneeded clutter.  Also, I would like to tone down our spending on things to help us save more money.  So I am going to try and focus on the question "Does this help to simplify my life?" before making any purchases this year.  Hopefully having my word of the year in the back of my mind will help to dial in my efforts to make this a great year.

Here's too a wonderfully simple year.

  1. I'm glad you picked "simplify" and not "bandwagon jumper-oner". ;)

Simplify is a great word though. I think it leads to a lot of prioritizing, which is always important.

Hope simple works out for you!

  3. Good word!!!
I love the idea of keeping things simple. It's so easy to get wrapped up in big details that aren't necessary.
